Week 2 and Laughable Canadian Stereotypes

First off thank you everyone for your kind words on my blog yesterday-Your emails and the IM Chats. They meant so much.  It never ceases to amaze me how everyone is willing to give advice   ( I'm teasing of course) very kind people here in Blog Land are.  Moooooooooooooving on

Yup I achieved my exercise goals for the week !  Not only did I achieve them, I did them with relative ease ! ( Heck something had to be easy for me this week *wink*).  I decided to shake it up this week and do my exercises Hula Hoop and Stairs on the same day.  That means 1 hour 15 minutes 3 times a week.

Not one mental swear doing this stairs this week!  In fact I have been able to maintain a steady pace for the first 17 minutes, and the last steps aren't as hard anymore either!   I can already see changes in my abdominal muscles and it has only been 2 weeks!  Yay me!!!

Food journal was going well until Friday.  I did have one complete meal on Friday, and I did 'eat' throughout the day, just well ( Cat don't throw things at me).  The water thing is still a challenge.  I'll get there.

Go GOOBers !  Thanks for the help to get healthy everyone.

Now in the interest of spreading Canadian Stereotypes Internationally, I'll post a video that really no one needs to see :).. BTW a TWO FOUR is what Canadians call a case of 24 beer.  Toques are winter hats.  Back Bacon is what Americans refer to as Canadian Bacon ( um, most Canadians eat regular bacon in fact I as a child I had NO idea what people meant when they said Canadian bacon).

So without further a due, found at the COMPLETE opposite end of the spectrum from  The Huron Carol posted by Lillie. ( actually not even on the same spectrum at all...but just go with it)

Willie!

    1. WOAH...lets not get crazy!

      LOL

Did you You Tube the Hula hoop and bring it back inside to conquer it yet? Maybe swinging it around will also help keep your halo in place.

Thanks for the words of encouragement

  2. Willie dear - Hope things are going better. Ok, won't throw anything for one day of not eating well but don't let it become a habit. *shaking finger* ;) The water will get easier - seriously, try the timer.

Not even sure what spectrum this video belongs on but it is so dumb it's funny.

    Have a wonderful weekend!

    Blessings,
    Cat

    1. I am trying Cat. At least I am actively thinking about it :)

I do think the water/timer thing is a great idea, if I could remember to do it.

As for the video, be grateful I chose the animated version...lol

      Enjoy your weekend too.
      Love

  4. Good job on the exercising!! I have been doing a new diet/exercise thing since Thanksgiving and most days I fail slightly, but I figure I am still eating less and moving more than I was before starting, so that's something, right? :)

    Praying for you today. :)

  5. Thanks Young Lady!

I really want to keep it up. Hopefully I can. The eating thing is and always has been a difficult thing to remember..But I'll get there :)

Congrats to you. Thanksgiving in the States is so close to Christmas, I don't know how you guys manage! Moving more is all we can ask for...

Thanks for your prayers you are so sweet!

    1. It is cute. The song being constantly played on the radio for 20 years, well.........LOL

Thanks New Bea. I'm pretty stoked, even though it has been only 2 weeks. I am actually enjoying myself- a far cry from addicted, but pretty good nevertheless.

  8. Hi Celeste

  9. Go Wilma! Go! Good for you!
The water thing ....I was actually going to suggest a timer, like Cat. If you have the ability to set a timer every half hour or hour on your cell phone and drink 4 oz. each time.
When you conquer the stairs and it starts to get boring this is the exercise on the stairs routine I was telling you about:

    http://experiencelife.com/article/stair-mastery/

It mixes it up a bit.

The video was hysterical. They have really been playing the same song for 20 years? With the same guys singing it?

Go Team GOOB! Go! Another week to look forward to and conquer! Yeah!!!!

Whoo! I have to put my pom poms down now, I think I sprained my back. Oh no, I hope I can still do my yoga! : )

    1. Wow Blue Bird where to start?!

I guess I'll begin with the most important, the video. Bob and Doug McKenzie, OMG. I was going to begin to try to explain, but if you are interested here is the Wiki Link, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bob_and_Doug_McKenzie ( I actually learned something under the history section, that made me snort with laughter, Barney too!-curious Canadians we laughed about the Canadian content) Anyway, the cartoon is actually based on a t.v. show with real people. Rick Moranis, from Ghostbusters and Honey I Shrunk the Kids ( okay, no Oscars there) and Dave Thomas (not the Wendy's guy) from Grace Under Fire starred in the 'show'. Yes their version of the 12 days of Christmas is played on the radio here several times a week during the Christmas season.

I shall take a look at the exercise stair routine. Right now I just want to get up and down them for the entire 30 minutes at the same speed. Who knows, maybe in the spring, I'll actually take up running ( pipe dream ) I have several friends who want me to try running with them. I've had people try to convince me to train for the Spartan Race. Do you have that there. I love the idea of it. I get to get really dirty!

I'd cheer for you to with pom pom's but I'd have to put glass of submission, er I mean wine down*wink*.

Bring on the week ! GOOBer's are ready! ( as soon as your back has healed )

  12. Way to go Willie! Nicely done on your goals!
I love Bill and doug McKenzie and remember them fondly from their television heyday.
I also remember the 24s, and the church key that goes with it.

One foot in front of the other :)

I'm glad you enjoyed the video. I am so used to the song, I wasn't sure how it would be received internationally- if others would find it entertaining or not.

  14. I think I've missed out somewhere! What is this exercise thing that everyone's talking about. I can't do 'stairs' because ours are bare oak and open-tread and go around a corner in the middle of our barn. (Yes, I know, we live in a barn - enough of the jokes!) The Beloved would seriously tan my hide if he caught me running up and down them, due to the safety aspect as much as anything else. But hula-hoops? What is this?!! Join me up please. I need to lose 14lbs, and all around my middle!

Couldn't watch the video unfortunately because our catch-up speed here in the rural UK countryside is abysmal! And my computer doesn't have a sound card. I'll try to sneak into the Beloved's office and watch it some time during the week.

    Hugs, Ami
