Past, Present or Future~ Never Taken For Granted

Disclaimer, this post was written with a 3 month Angel in my arms, if it doesn't flow...that is my excuse!

I like many of you 'out there' was a lurker for quite sometime before I delurked.  I believe the first blog I actually delurked on was Stormy's.  She was very kind when she responded to my first comment.  I even remember the post I commented on.  As time went on I began to comment on a more blogs.  Before I started to blog, and even before we started ttwd I had reached out to a blogger.  Over time we have become friends.  This blogger and her husband have been there supporting, advising and even chastising ( wink ) me and us along the way.  Soon after I began to blog, another blogger and I quickly became good friends, she too has been there every step of our process.  Her husband..well he's fun to tease! (wink).  I had many great commenters over that first month, and so many more since then.  About 3 weeks in, another close friendship began to form.  Once again, this blogger and her husband have been there 'helping' along the way.  Trust me when I tell you these 3 women, with occasional back up from their husbands have had a full time job 'helping' me for these past almost 9 months!  They even tag team ( virtually) behind my back- talking me back from the edge over and over again.

By Christmastime of last year my little circle of friends had grown!  It reminds me of the Inch Worm Song.  " Two and two are four. Four and four are eight.  Eight and eight are sixteen. Sixteen and sixteen are thirty-two..."  So many people, so much support, so many fantastic friends have emerged from blogging. For this very reason I cannot possibly pick just 10 people to nominate for an Inspirational Blogger Award.  I do feel very honoured and humbled, shocked and confused by my nominations from Minelle, Ami, Viola and Quiet Sara.  Two of you have been friends forever it seems, and two of you I am so looking forward to our blooming friendship.

I'm putting a link here to an older post I wrote, because it really does sum up perfectly how I feel about this community.
http://barneymarriedwilma.blogspot.ca/2012/12/hands-of-ttwd.html

Whether you are in a Dd relationship or not:whether we've been friends forever, or whether we no longer find each other anymore, please know that you all have touched me in some positive way.  If you are new to blogging I hope that you are able to feel the amazing support this community has to offer.

Okay, useless facts about me ....

Favourite number: 2 or 3 ( why?  because visually I love the shape of those numbers)

Favourite Non Alcoholic drink:  There is such a thing?

Facebook or Twitter: Facebook.  I use it like an online photo album, and keep in touch with my family out of town through it

My passion:  Anything that gets my creative juices flowing.  Once my creative button is engaged it is like a drug, and OCD wrapped in one...I will work all hours of the day or night to perfect what I am creating.  Well creative juices..and little kids.  I LOVE little people ! and they love me. My brother says it is because I am close to the ground like them....yup loving and supportive !

Getting or Giving presents:  Giving definitely.  Although I just like to leave them behind, not be there when they open them.  I love picking things out for others but hate the awkwardness of being there when they open them. I usually 'make' Barney deliver gifts

Favourite Day.  Hands down Christmas Eve.  I love the energy, excitement and beauty of it.  There is just something about the anticipation of the next day.  I love the prep BEFORE more than the actual event.

Favourite Flower:  Daisy.  Yup the little weed that grows along the side of  a highway. They are hardy yet dainty.  They are simply beautiful and 'happy" and they can entertain children with the " He loves me, He loves me not". Although, I did tell Barney when I die, I want Gerbera Daisies on my coffin as they are vibrant and colourful.

Favourite colour.  Well if I only could pick one, it would be yellow, preferably pale yellow. In truth though I love just about every colour and it would depend if I was wearing it or decorating with it.  If I was painting walls, I would have to take in to consideration many things before choosing the colour ( north or south facing room).  If I was decorating a cake many factors have to be taken into account because some colours taste AWFUL. As far as wearing it, well lets just say fuchsia and red are NOT my friends. So I'll just stick with pale yellow because it works in all those situations.

Once again I'd like to thank all of you for standing by us through our adventures in ttwd.  Your support over these 9 months has meant so much, even if you just started commenting- or if you have stopped. Every word typed in my comments section has beem greatly appreciated, and the time you took to read and comment never is taken for granted!

Yeah, my favourite colour depends on my mood, but pale yellow never goes away.

Well being creative is overrated when the house starts falling down around you, or you jump up in the middle of the night because you have an idea. Ask Barney, it can be not so much fun for the spouse.

  16. Morning Willie, my morning coffee/bedtime tea buddy (well, not quite bed time here yet but ...) This is such a lovely post and an example of exactly why you have been nominated for this award. Congratulations!

I am definitely not shocked at your nominations and you shouldn't be confused. You have such a caring and compassionate heart. The way you reach out to all of us here and the support you give us is amazing. When one of us is in need you make sure the rest of us know so that we too can offer our support and you eagerly share in our happiness cheering us on. You are also so welcoming and supportive of new bloggers.

When things tend to get a bit too serious, or when there is sadness in blogland you rise to the challenge and boost our spirits with fun things to participate in, such as the Super Heros, the Blogland Candy Store and the Newly Red Game, which take tremendous time and effort on your part to do. You have also shared personal struggles and ups and downs in this lifestyle with us. You and Barney have persevered through the hard stuff and are now reaping rewards. Your journey is inspiring and I am so proud of you both.

On the personal level, we started out as morning coffee/bedtime tea buddies and I am so happy to say our friendship has become much more. You have helped, supported and encouraged me a great deal. At Christmas time when I was invaded by both Scrappy and the Scrooge you were there providing much Christmas cheer to bring me out of it. I know Rick feels and appreciates the support you give to both of us too ... that's why he lets me stay up waaay too late to chat with you :)

    Much Love and Hugs,
    Roz

    Replies
    1. Oh Roz, why do you feel the need to constantly make me cry? You are so sweet to say such kind things, but none of the things you have listed here is extraordinary, that is just being a friend.

I have learned to be open from all the wonderful bloggers who have helped me along the way, and OBVIOUSLY that includes you and behind the scenes Rick too! ( tell him once again that I really do appreciate him letting you stay up to chat with me. We shall book some times where I stay up late and you chat in your jammies).

The bloggers who welcomed me into blog land with open arms many months ago set the tone on how to act here. It is them that I owe a great deal to. The new friendships that have formed since then, well they have also given me a hand up with words of encouragement and the kindness of the gift of time, by typing those words on my posts, in emails, or in the chat window. I never stop being amazed by the kindness of others here.

Congrats on your nomination my friend, YOU are the deserving one.

Much love to you and Rick too.

  17. Willie,
You deserve all these friends you have made and more, because you are the first one to jump in and befriend each of us when we are having a hard time. You're also there in the good times and even the boring, long days with not much happening. There's a difference between sharing ttwd with each other and really sharing life. Sharing life is what you do and that forms friendships with meaning. I am blessed to count you as my friend. Thank you for all the tough times you've walked me through.

    1. Well I'm not so certain about deserve, but I am very fortunate!

It is *I* who is blessed to have you as a friend. I know I say it all the time, but I truly do mean it- if it wasn't for you and your 'partners in crime' I would have packed in ttwd months and months ago!

I honestly can't recall ever having to 'walk' you through anything, but if I did then I am happy I was there for you in some small way.

Isn't blogging great for picking up friends? Sounds like you really snowballed out there and picked up quite a few while you roll through this journey.

As far as the useless facts, they are not really useless, I love a good "getting to know you" post, although sometimes I don't have the time to participate in all those meme type things. I like reading them more then writing one.

  24. Hey, Sunshine! ;-)

You know I could fill the page here with comments. I'll spare you. Well, not completely. Bwahaha!

I'm glad I was there when you were bemoaning your choice of your blog name, and when you thought (silly woman) that the "ee" sound at the end of names was universally indicative of ttwd wisdom, if only to show you that "Wilmey" was worse! Thank goodness Lillie rescued you. ;-)

I've enjoyed getting to know you, my dear bloggy friend, and always enjoy your posts. They make me laugh, think, wonder, and can even being me to tears (stop that, 'k?). I especially like this post, for many reasons, but in the interest of losing any sense of brevity here, the only reason I'll cite is you elicited comments that let me discover not every woman in our corner of blogville is Lillipution. I'm lovingly joking with all my pixie-sized friends! ;-) I'm only 5'9" and always wished I was 6' or taller. Go figure.

Yeah, you are probably right after all there is Lucy to bring into the mix. You are right about the Wilmey being worse. Although I do applaud your efforts! Lillie rescues me on a weekly basis, who would have thought the name thing was just the beginning ? Well thankfully you have returned so some of these other fair ladies can take a break form Operation Talk Willie back from the Edge!

Whoa, wait - am I supposed to be dogging on Lucy, too? I didn't know she was fair game! Oh, Luuuucccyyyy!!!

Lillie is a gem. I remember watching her head spin around (figuratively) when she first started commenting on Mick's blog and asking him questions. What a ride since then!

Wils, I will never let you go over the edge, but I certainly like walking and talking on it with you. We're not too close. We're just being us, trying to be better us-es, without losing who "us" is inside.

Thank you, again, for welcoming me back with open arms. I have to get a better set-up than a phone with which to blog, but I won't go MIA, and I will send word if I won't be around for awhile.
