Sore Bum. GOOB Post (lol)




So yesterday I had a sore bum...Not too bad.  In fact I didn't really notice it until I went to sit down .  My  actions caused my sore bum  It was not Barney.  I suppose if I were able to place blame on my sore bum I would cast my eyes in the direction of Minelle!  Yup you heard me right.



 I have a sore bum for accepting the GOOB challenge!  For those of you who have been away, or living under a rock ( kidding),  GOOB is not as gross as it sounds...well sometimes it is after I have finished this
GOOB stands for Get Off Our Butts.  So that is why my butt is sore.  My apologizes to those who were hoping I got spanked <- but not really.

So yes I was inspired by Minelle, Ana and Celeste and took up their challenge and I am happy to say that exercise wise

My exercise goal was to use the weighted Hula Hoop for 45 minutes 3 times a week...I did that. Well sort of.  You see I did it Monday night. ARGH.  Weds. however I was distracted by a couple of wonderful, and chatty ladies. YES it was all them.  Determined not to be shunned from the Goal Achieved Awards, I Hula hooped (<-?) on Thursday.  I was pretty impressed with myself, except that meant no hula break so on Friday when I had to use it again.  My sides did not have a day to recover. Not sure if you've ever used a weighted hula hoop but  the next day... I felt like I had been in a street fight.  So I would imagine--I mean really Lover not a fighter over here.

 I had to use just the regular hoop yesterday, which is surprisingly more difficult to keep up-  but I only had it fall twice in 45 minutes so that was good!

Okay so 3 days a week Hula Hoop, and the other 2 days 'running' the blasted stairs ! Tuesday night, yes night, like 11:30 - wonderful timing Willie- I started on my task.  BUT at least I did it!  I hated every blasted minute of it. 

The next day my son complained about me running the stairs.  Seriously?  I was just using the basement ones ( getting dizzy turning around so often) and I am not a big person..besides HE makes more noise opening and closing his bedroom door a million times a night. 

ANYWAY...Thursday, I cranked up the tunes and did it during the day, after my hula workout.  Yup. I couldn't fail this task!  AND I didn't even swear in my head this time!  I set the timer of 15 minutes, figuring I could break up my work out if I wanted...but I went for the entire 30 minutes all at once.



 Downfall to doing during the day...my dog.  At first she was following me-then she stood at the top of the stairs giving me the look--Like seriously?  what is your problem Wilma ?  Eventually she lay on my son's bed watching me.  Looking like she had this running through her mind- " Humans are so stupid". <- btw she thinks in pink....BUT mission accomplished!

I also ate 3 meals a day for 5 whole days!  Yay me!  Ducking things thrown at me, I forget to eat.  I know, I know- not healthy!

I did fail miserably on my water goal though.  I am not a huge drinker so this is very, very difficult for me to remember.  I'll try harder next week I promise.

 Perhaps this  will get my 64 oz of water in?  If not, it sure will feel good after running the blasted stairs!





So there you have it.  Once again more than you ever wanted to know about me!  I have to post just one more picture.  This is for Lucy.  See how versatile the halo can be when it is as large as mine?

I did have one heck of a time convincing it to come down from above my head however.


Thank you Minelle, Ana and Celeste for starting GOOB.  I know it is only week one, but I am so grateful, and optimistic!  Hopefully I can continue the momentum through the holidaze!  Yikes!

No worries, you'll just find out if I did managed or not!

      Shame on you Willie for blaming these wonderful chatty ladies for you not exercising.

      Good for you on taking the challenge. You have way more motivation than I do.

    1. I can't cartwheel does that make you feel better? I was a cartwheel-less high school cheerleader..they are not picky in Canada, as long as you have a set of lungs :)

  3. I am impressed! I'm not a great hula hooper, I'm not great at running stairs come to think of it...ok I COULD, but I don't really want to...well, I really only have 1 form of exercise I enjoy ") Great Job! You may just inspire me to GOOB!

      I don't generally do formal exercise either. In fact this post should keep any face to face friends off of my scent! I am more the haul dirt, shovel snow kind of girl ( hey I never said how heavy each shovel full was) I do play volleyball...not well...but I do enjoy it, especially if there is a beer in my hand.

      So this is something new for me. I am trying not to get too excited so I am not eating my words in a couple of weeks

      As for 'running' the stairs..I do that very little but swearing at the stairs in my head as I drag my sorry butt up them for 30 minutes does't sound as catchy!

      GOOB you can do it! I think Barney is going to join this week too!

  4. So after being at a Christmas party all day eating like a pig I'm about to head out for my final day of the GOOB challenge. I come over here and see I am the cause of Wilma's sore bum..... Hmmmm! Run that by me one more time! ;-)

      ANYWAY you should be proud you inspired me to have a sore bum in a good way, not the NASTY way Lillie was implying!

      As for eating today...2 cups of coffee, 2 cupcakes, a handful of plain potato chips and a glass of rootbeer. Not exactly the diet of a champion!

  6. Oh how I have missed reading your posts Willie :) I too thought Barney must of had a hand in the sore butt issue..but no.

    Exercise! You inspire me too! We walked a lot in China, and ate three meals a day. I too would rather grab a few chips, maybe a chocolate bar and a few cups of tea. (that is why we have that silly stupid health diary)

    So, maybe when I get my head around running up stairs for 30 mins (seriously? 30 mins, I think I will die on the first minute) and hula hooping (oh my, they still have those things?) I too might give it a go :)

    My letter followed by a number friend! It is I who have missed your comments. I have been up to a little bit of blogger mischief since you've been gone, but it hasn't quite been the same without you.

    Now let me clarify, when I say 'run' it is basically brisk walking followed by a lot of butt dragging.

    The hula hoop is fun. I turn on a show with hot young hard bodies..like Hawaii Five 0 and go to town. I forget I am doing anything- other than watching your hot Aussie Export!

    At the beginning I must have been quite the site. The weighted hula hoop, which is much easier to keep up, requires a long t-shirt because it makes your t-shirt ride up as it is covered in like a rubber. I also like the protection of the material. The regular hula hoop is easier without clothing around the waist. I would alternate hoops, as the weighted one takes some getting used to- so 5 minutes weigheted , 10 minutes regular. I would pull the bottom of my t-shirt up through the neck of my t-shirt for the latter then take it out for the weighted one. So up down went the t-shirt. SO not a spectator sport! But that was a few weeks ago. I'm all good with strictly the weighted one now.

    You should join us GOOBers. I like to visulize us like the Pink Ladies from Grease- um but not working out in the satin! Ack I said Pink Ladies, not Richard Simmons!

    1. What? You are not into the towelling sweat suit?! Ok, so I have given it some thought....and yes I will join you other GOOBers, but not this week. Not well at the moment...one would think that the asthma would play up in polluted air, but no, had no breathing problems at all, actually the opposite and have never felt healthier in all my life! Not until we got back here did the asthma kick in well and truly :(
      We have a hoola hoop downstairs, sure I could run down the stairs to get it :) So here is to next week and becoming a GOOBer too :)
      Does the sex glasses of water count if they are cups of tea :)?

  8. Well dang, when I saw the post title, I was sure I was going to read about Barney spanking you silly for not eating right or not drinking enough water. Instead, I get bragging? LOL

    Woohoo! Way to go Willie - very proud of you for hitting those goals - sore bum and all.

    One way you might try drinking more water is to set a timer for every hour or so and drink a glass of water to get you in the habit.

    Now dear, about this diet of yours...Oh Barney...

      Okay I admit it today was very much a bad girl Willie day. I have been good all week though. 15 meals!! The timer is a good idea. I had a pitcher on the counter and a glass set next to it. Turns out the glass was too big, so Barney got me the proper size so it was easier to 'down' a glass.

      I am seriously going to have to re-examine having Barney read the comment portion of my blog. Everyone seems to be on the spank Wilma train. Sheesh.

  9. Well Dang....I was hoping Barney broke out a hanger or something for teflon tushie ;) To say I am disappointed would be an understatement. Your time is coming my friend....I have a feeling your days are numbered....insert evil laughter here..... ;)

    I love the idea of hula hooping with your halo....atleast you know where it always is. I have said mine is like a mood ring, and it is quite versatile...goes with everything!

    And yes, I am soooo on the Spank Wilma Train....Choo Choo!

    1. Hi Wilma, actually, I had a terrible night last night so wasn't in doedoe land when you replied. I couldn't sleep and was checking out blogs on the phone - oops! Replying between 2 and 3am would have got me in trouble though. I suspect I'm going to be sent to bed earlier tonight so thought I'd better reply now :)

      I was just trying to give a friendly warning - a nicely toned butt just may encourage ones HoH to give it some attention. Sometimes we DD wives just can't win huh?

      I hate to go on and on about this as I have a tendency to be gung ho at the begining and then peter out- but this fear of anonymous public shame for not completing my set out task has really worked! ( so far ) The feeling when I saw the "I did it" picture Celete had created made me so proud.

      Give it a shot! C'mon what have you got to loose? Well maybe a couple of inches, or some weight or some unhealthy habits! That's not so bad is it?

  16. The hula hoop! Wilma! I have one of those...I'm getting it out! I can watch Steve McGarrett (he has gotten so much hotter as he has aged...remember how he looked in the 1970s? Those what, 40 some odd years, have really improved his looks (lol) I mean for a man who must be pushing 70, he is great looking! Maybe that's because he's really a vampire :-)) Thanks for the inspiration, I usually run and love it, except when it's raining, which it has been for over a week, so the hula hoop it is.

    A sore bum? Good for you, I actually like it when I am a little sore after a work out, it means I did a good job!

    Steve McGarrett (2012 version only) that is one hot Alpha Male! Barney always teases me, " Watching your boyfriend again?" lol.

    ..."because he is really a vampire"...lol...Don't throw things at me but I prefer Steve over Mick.

    I enjoyed the sore bum from exercising. I usually wear bike shorts when I exercise so when I am getting fed up, I put my hands back there to feel the muscles working to inspire me to keep going. Gotta get in bikini bod shape after all- hey a girl can dream. I mean what if they are actually filming H50 where I am? lol
