Camping Sex, Ghosts and Cakes Just To Answer a Few

Looking out my window you certainly cannot tell it is the last week of March. Meh it will be what it will be. Life here is clicking along. I have to say it is unusual due to restraints and perhaps a case of Wounded Wife Syndrome. I'm not in a panic by any means, just floating around rather aimlessly. But ....

( My Dad loved Doris Day. So by proxy so do I. I actually also really LOVE the dress she is wearing in this video. Oh and for all of you out there that have older parents- you are most welcome for the ear worm today !)

Susie:

What have you and Barney NOT done since you were dating oh those many years ago that you'd LOVE to do again? (and it's MM asking...)
MM...you are trying to cause controversy...or shed me in a bad light, I can sense it. ( insert vision of him pontificating/explaining that we won't be shed in a bad light if it isn't something naughty)

Camping ....ALONE.

Janey:
What parts of Barney do you like best? What parts of yourself do you like best?
I have always loved Barney's blue eyes.  None of our children have blue eyes however.  Our oldest has an unusual army green colour though!  What part of me do I like best- Barney.

River:
Here are some questions: if you had to choose to either grow a foot our shrink a foot(in inches, not the left or right!) Which would you choose and why? Do you believe in ghosts, aliens, magic? Do you have a favorite essential oil?
Well the first question is easy...UP up and Away!

I wish!

I am 5 foot 2, which I realize around here isn't that short, but ALL of my height is in my legs...bwahaa..I am short- waisted.  Finding clothes can be challenging because of that.  Unless of course you want your jeans to double as a bra!  So not only would I want to grow up I want that inch between my hip bone and rib cage.  I can literally pinch my fingers between the two if I bend to the side.  Oh the joys!
Wait you said a FOOT?  I don't want to be 6 foot 2 OR 4 foot 2...sheesh....lol

As for Magic....
This kind
NO

This kind...
Yes

Aliens?  Well I am not so arrogant to think that in the entire universe we are the only living creatures.  Do I believe they look like THIS guy...
Well at the risk of sounding judgmental...I hope not, but here in Canada we might be safe...he has no hair and might be a tad chilly here. Of course the sun might be worse for him without a good sunscreen.

Now the ghost question.  Absolutely.  I have lived in a 'haunted' house.  I know call me crazy.  One time in that house we decided to use a Ouja board...( yeah GREAT idea). After it answering some 'questions'  the triangular thing( I'm sure it has a proper name) kept moving.  On its own...with NO hands on it.  Of course this could be explained away I'm sure.  I once heard that we only use a small percentage of our brain ( some WAY less than others) so perhaps one of us in the room had the subconscious ability to move the piece.  It scared me enough to never want to play that again.

About 15 years later, friends convinced me to play a game called Spirit in the Glass ( oh how I wish it was a drinking game) at their house.   Basically it is the same as Ouja, but you use a drinking glass and cut the letters out of paper.  You ask the 'spirits' to  answer questions.  You know the drill.  Well my friend Peter started asking questions, and the glass wasn't moving ( our fingers were on it lightly).  Me being the smart mouth that I am I started to taunt Peter, and then these so-called spirits ( guess I lost the fear from my late teens).  The glass practically FLEW across the table and landed on its side in front of me.  At first I said, " Knock it off guys"  But they claimed they didn't do it, and how would they knock the glass over if they were barely touching it?  As the night went on the 'spirit' would only move the glass if I was the one asking the questions.

We have played several times since and with similar results.  I do have girlfriend where the same thing happens to her too.  Anyway one 'spirit' told me things that made no sense.  About a relative and a riff between family members and how she wanted my Mom to know it was alright and she had forgiven her.  I brushed it off because I had no idea about a riff.  About a month later, after no prompting from me, my Mom told me about a former sister in law from her estranged brother.  She said one of her nieces contacted her out of the blue after about 30 years. The niece said her Mom wanted my Mom to know she understood why she couldn't have helped out when she left my uncle because times were tough for all of them back then.  My cousin ( who I have never met) told my Mom she had been looking for her for years, because her Mom wanted to makes sure she understood this.  That she held no ill will towards her.  My aunt had died years ago.  My Mom told me she had been thinking a lot about her lately and how guilty she felt for not being able to take them ( 6 of them) into our house back then- my uncle was a drunk...apparently a mean one at that. It still bothers her to this day.  Or did until her niece found her.

I'm sure someone out there can explain that story away.  But I have had several, tame incidents like this.  I am not scared when we play this game.  I often still taunt, and the glass flies at me.  My friend Peter always gets upset with me, in a joking manner, but he loves to watch the glass fly too!

A few years ago a close relative got married in a haunted inn.  She didn't know it was haunted ( and well known too...they even had a tv special on the darn place) when they booked their wedding there.  About 2 weeks before the wedding apparently the ghosts 'left'  ( It is a very long an interesting story, email me if you want the link).  The owners were upset because they enjoyed living with these ghosts.  Anyway when Barney and I and my adult niece arrived there, she could see I was uneasy.  She looked point blank at me and said, " You know Wilma, that if a ghost is going to make itself know...it IS going to be to you".  GREAT!  She had no idea about the Spirit in the Glass thing...Meh, maybe she was just trying to freak me out.  Anyway I practically slept ON TOP of Barney that night.  His response,

"Great, our first time away from the kids, in a haunted house with my ghost speaking, scared wife, sleeping on top of me and our NIECE was in the room !"  LOL...

Jannelle:
What's on your bucket list?
Italy. I mentioned it in my last post if anyone is curious. I only have one thing on my bucket list. If I cross it off I shall add another.
and this one might be too personal, so you don't have to answer it....How would you feel if your children wanted to practice DD/TTWD?
It is not too personal, just too creepy to think about.  Not that I think dd/ttwd is creepy.  But it is intimate, and I don't like to think of it with my family members, young or old.  In fact if I am OTK and the phone rings I pray to GOD my Mother's voice does not project out of the answering machine!

I can't even submit to a spanking within a certain amount of time after talking to my family.  I don't know how in the world those of you who live with other adults manage it mentally!

Roz:
What is your favourite movie?
My favourite movie is The Shawshank Redemption.

When I was a young teen it was The Outsiders.

I mean Patrick Swayze as the alpha male older brother...? how can you  get better than that?

Well aside from Atticus Finch ( who by the way Barney reminds me of come to think of it) from To Kill A Mockingbird.

And the movie that most intrigues me is A Picnic At Hanging Rock.  On a whim I took a Film Studies course in university, there is where I first saw this movie.  The symbolism in this movie is outstanding.  I find it eerie and fascinating all at the same time.

What is the one change within yourself since starting your ttwd adventure that you are most happy about?
I am going to cheat here and just post the link to a post I wrote after Christmas.

George:
If an alien space ship landed in your yard and said they wanted to speak to the smartest person on the planet, who would you tell them to talk to? (Can't be Barney or me even though I know you would immediately think of us!) LOL
I'd say, " It is your lucky day. You are already talking to her"

Seriously, I don't believe there is one specific type of intelligence therefore there isn't a smartest person in the room, much less the planet. Intelligence comes in all shapes and sizes and varies in circumstances.

Terpsichore:
As for questions...I never know what to ask...so instead I simply ask for you to please share anything you would like that we may not know about you...always love learning about friends...
Hmm, let's see
1) I can make my tongue vibrate and touch my nose with it.
2) Even though I have swam in rivers and lakes ( including the world's biggest fresh water lake) with sturgeon, muskies, leeches, snakes, lamprey...I am terrified of the ocean.
3) Looking at pictures of whales or sharks makes my chest tighten
4) I taught my self how to decorate cakes. I started when I was 11 and the first cake I ever decorated was Fred Flintstone

5) Barney and I are both the youngest in our families
6) My oldest sibling and I are the most alike, even though we didn't even grow up together- she is that much older. She is blonde with straight hair and almond shaped eyes.
I am auburn curly and round brown eyes.
7) My eyes 'disappear' when I smile.
8) All 3 of our boys, while very different looking, look like me- at different stages of my life
9)I have an excellent memory for things I have experienced. Once I described a specific day at the cottage to my Mom. She told me that was the summer before I turned 3.
10) I don't necessarily believe in signs of the Zodiac as a rule, but I am VERY much a Libra

Meg:
Is there a place here in the US you'd like to visit?
Aside from the homes of a few blogger friends, I'd like to go to California Wine country.

Do you have any hobbies?
My hobbies change from season to season. I like doing anything that is creative. I have refurbished and designed furniture. I decorate cakes. I have ( although not in a while) painted- I like water colours best. I love to garden. LOVE to garden. I love cooking. Today I am sewing throw cushion covers...lol

As well as gardening I love being outside doing just about anything- and that includes shoveling.  But it doesn't include RUNNING!

Sadie:
Okay, what is your favorite childhood memory?
Hmm, that's a tough one. I had such a wonderful childhood in so many ways. It wasn't perfect or without pain, but it was wonderful.

Every Saturday my Mom would go cross country skiing. Later when I was older I would join her and her friends. They would ski to a hunt cabin in the bush, light a fire, have lunch, some would ski some more, and then head back out again. But until I was old enough to go, I would stay at home with my Dad. Often this meant going to McDonald's for lunch. I remember standing at the front door, waving to her, my Dad holding it open. I was probably about 4. She was laughing. " Don't be so excited to see me go!"

***
When I left for University, my Mom ( covering up her sadness as I was the last to go) went off somewhere to find something out. My Dad sat on my bed watching me hang things in my dorm room closet.

" Hmm.  I am glad to be here watching you unpack, so I won't go looking for half of my wardrobe when I get home.  Oh and Wilma, can you at least pretend to be a little sad about leaving home.....For your Mom's sake?"

Where did you grow up, and did you move often?
I grew up about a 4 hour drive North West of where we live now. As a child we never moved. I came home from the hospital into the bedroom I left for university . This was the first house my parents ever bought.

But for ME...well I moved a lot once I moved to the city I now lived in.  On average once a year until Barney and I became engaged.

How did you and Barney meet?

Barney and I worked together.  We knew each other and were friends for over 2 years before dating.  People who we are still friends from from that time said they always knew we belonged together, and they collectively sighed " FINALLY" when we started dating!  True story.  We hear this about once a year from someone we worked with back then.

Well there you have it~  everything you wanted to know, and probably a WHOLE lot more you didn't!

Yup goals achieved again this week.  Getting a little lax on what constitutes as healthy for lunch, or even what time lunch is- but other than that.

I switched almost exclusively to the hula hoop this week.  Exchanging Downton Abbey for music.  It provides for a more vigorous work out.

The water consumption no longer seems to keep me running nor is it difficult to consume anymore.  I am noticing a difference in my skin slightly now too.  Or at least that is what I am telling myself anyway.

QUEENIE:  Mission Accomplished this week!  Great Job!!

DownUnder Don:  He said not a great week for formal exercise.  I think he did great!  Who needs to lift weights all the time?

If you MUST know....

Not sure which is less exciting my Q&A( my answers NOT your questions of course) or my T&A... Meh...here we go anyway....(  half of the questions answered.  I was putting myself to sleep, so the rest will come next week...I know, you will be waiting with baited breath)

From Kim :

What is your most embarrassing moment ?
It is actually too identifiable.  YES I am that 'good' at epic fails in a public arena!  LOL.  I'll just say it involved nudity, the captain of a sports team, and a pair of cowboy boots.

If money wasn't an object, where would your dream vacation be?
This one was very easy for me.  Italy. Hands down.  I know of a place were there is a cooking school in a villa. In the morning you go out and harvest what you need.  In a huge Italian kitchen you learn to prepare authentic Italian meals for lunch.  After you can wander their olive groves, lounge by their pool or go into the nearest town.  I would LOVE to do that as part of my month long tour of Italy!

If you were invited to a free weekend at a nudist camp, would you go?
Heck NO for so very many reasons.  1) there is NO need to subject ANYONE to that! 2) I put my boobs on every morning.  So if I don't have a bra on, Barney might get arrested. 3) I can't imagine how long it would take to have a normal looking bum again, and as tempting as it might be to not be spanked for that long, I don't see THAT happening any time soon...4)  I might run into Blondie and Ty!  As much as I would LOVE to see her in person, I don't want to meet ALL of her person or meet Ty's meat.  If ya know what I mean?

When you were a child what did you want to be when you grew up?
Taller.  I failed miserably.  Well not entirely true.  I did grow somewhat, but all my siblings are still taller.  Perhaps they'll start shrinking soon and my dreams will be realized!

What is your favorite children's book?

Tough question only because I don't understand. If you meant as a child, the answer is A Child's Book of Garden Verses.

I absolutely loved this book!  Now before you start thinking I was a deep thinking child, reciting all the poems of Robert Louis Stevenson, it was most likely the illustrations I loved best.  Although I can still recite my favourite poem from it,
The Swing
How do you like to go up in a swing,
Up in the air so blue?
Oh, I do think it the pleasantest thing
      Ever a child can do!

Up in the air and over the wall,
Till I can see so wide,
River and trees and cattle and all
      Over the countryside—

Till I look down on the garden green,
Down on the roof so brown—
Up in the air I go flying again,
Up in the air and down!

Quite ironic really, as swinging has always made me feel sick to my stomach !  I think it was just because I stared at the illustration of the house so much, that the poem became embedded in my memory.

Now if you are talking about what books I liked to read to my children when they were little. that is complicated too, based on age and child.  LOL.  So I'll stick with the first answer so as not to bore you any further!

Now on to Naughty Ami:

Bikini or Swimsuit?
Mostly swimsuit for reasons 1) and 3) under the nudist camp question.  We did venture to a much warmer climate last spring and I wore a bikini.  Why the heck not?  But I pretty much stayed on my towel, laying down the entire time, until the last few days.  I do own several bikinis, but I only wear them if I know we are going to be at a place where no one else will see me that I know.  Well my parent's don't count!

Ever skinny dipped as an adult?
Too many times to count! I love skinny dipping. I love swimming at night...so they OBVIOUSLY go hand and hand.

Ever shaved Barney's eyebrows off whilst he slept, as a joke?
I plead the 5th ( even though I am Canadian)

Do you take sugar in your tea/coffee and if you do, have you ever tried fruit sugar as an alternative to either cane or beet sugar?
No sugar in my tea, just milk ( I can hear you gagging across the pond from here) and sugar as well as flavoured cream for my coffee. No I have not tried any other sweeteners. I am quite particular and crabby if my coffee/sugar intake is not what I am used to in the morning.

Is there a spanking implement you still haven't got? LOL!
Hardy har har... As YOU know, we have quite a few wood implements..

Three of which we have purchased from Blondie's shop.

We have a couple of leather items from John at Leather Thorn and a fake leather strap

( um NOT our 'sexy' sheets)

As well as a cane, we own silicone weapons and numerous relatively useless kitchen utensils which have found their way into our bedroom over the last year and a half.

We have used and gotten rid of a 'carpet banger' made of coax cable.  And also 'out the door', the plastic hanger Barney used when he needed the implement to be quiet.  Now we use the cane.  I suppose there are numerous implements to be had that we have not tried.  Cane-iac is very expensive to ship here however and they seem to be the place with the greatest variety.  There is talk of sometime ordering a longer cane, and perhaps a lexan paddle.  Time will tell.  Neither Barney nor I have a desire at this moment for a flogger or crop.  But again, who knows?

From Queenie:

What is your idea of a perfect day? Where would you be, who be there, and what would you be doing?
There is this little girl, who outside of my immediate family is my favourite little person in the world.  She is 3.  We all adore her ( probably because her personality is like someone I know very well).  My perfect day would involve her and my family ( her parents are optional as I do love them to death as well).  My boys all enjoy this little firecracker for different reasons, and Barney just shakes his head and laughs, " your genes are strong".  Unfortunately we don't live near her so we don't see her as often as we like. I miss her so much.  I would love to take her camping.  She LOVES the outdoors, all things slimy and bugs!  But no matter where we are, or what we do, my perfect day would include her and my boys ( all 4 of them!).

What is your favorite food?
Favourite food.  That is difficult.  I love to prepare food, but honestly I don't really crave food.  Maybe sugar! LOL.

What are the top 3 things on your bucket list?
I only have one thing on my bucket list, aside from not kicking the bucket until a ripe old age...Italy with Barney ( see above answer to Kim). If we achieve that one, I will add another. But honestly, I'm good! lol

From Katie:
Apart from spanky and making love stuff, how do you and Barney like to spend time together?
We both love to be outside. So anything we can do outdoors ( but we are more fair weather people...lol) We camp, and canoe, and hike- we garden. We take lots of walks together. We will sit on our back deck and read. At night we will have a fire on the deck ( ROZ it is contained in a fire pit) and have a glass of wine, snuggled on our lounger. Often with our youngest roasting something.

We love to cook together, and have elaborate dinners - especially with friends.

Home improvement projects are also a way we love to spend time together.
Really on a day to day basis, we just do day to day things with each other. He will accompany me to doctor's appointments even if it means just sitting in the waiting room. We grocery shop together. He will come out with me to 'look at pretty things' for our home. I am on several committees in our community, so often he helps me with 'my' volunteer stuff.

What are some of your fav songs?
This is difficult because I like so many different types of music and my favourites change depending on what I am listening to the music for. I will tell you if I could only ever listen to one band for the rest of my life it would be Great Big Sea .

From Maryanne:

As for questions, what is your most recent spanky book?
I actually don't generally read 'spanky books'....I mean NOT that I have anything against them. I enjoyed Renee's book I reviewed. It is just that since starting ttwd, I have stopped reading about spankings. I guess because I actually RECEIVE spankings? Although I know there are plenty of women out there that do both.  I can't explain why really

Oh wait.. I did read the book Spank Her! A Top's View of This Thing We Do. It wasn't fiction but I thoroughly enjoyed it.

From DownUnder Don:

5 people to dinner...anyone at all...who would they be?
This was an easy question for me. It will be a boring answer to read however. As you didn't say alive or deceased I am choosing one guest of honour who is deceased, and the rest of my family. I would love to have my Dad back for a dinner, even though saying good bye a second time would be terribly difficult. He past away before Barney and I were a couple.  Neither our boys nor Barney  had the chance to meet him, or in a way know part of me. So if I could have dinner with any five people, it would be my Dad and my family.

From Minelle:

What is a favorite part of YOUR body that you love? ie...eyes....smile....hair....
Honestly? I don't LOVE any part of my body. I suppose I wouldn't like it if my hair were to go straight, or fall out.

( I will answer the rest in the upcoming week)

Forty Days of Fitness Challenge Update

No long drawn out account this week.  I mostly concentrated on the hula hoop, building up my tolerance for the weighted one.  It is actually easier to keep the weighted one 'going' but your sides take a beating while you get accustomed to it.( I think I am good now.)  As of last night I have been able to incorporated a few squats and other exercises while doing the hula hoop.  I hope to get better at this.

The water intake is going well. I am not running to the bathroom every few minutes now!  Although I did have to ask for a break during our hour long (kidding) r/a session the other day to go pee !  I might be imagining it, but I think my crow's feet laugh lines are lessening. Barney has informed me that the water consumption WILL be staying.

Now on to Down Under Don.  He modified his routine but he made his goals!  Congrats to you Don!

Queenie

I got 2 out of 3 this week. I wasn't up to the exercise. I'll take the 'I don't want to talk about it' sticker! Oh well, better luck this week :-)

7 Down 33 to Go...sigh

Okay, I can't believe I am doing this because these type of things make me nervous.  Not because I am a private person by any means, but because of that nagging feeling...what if no one asks?  So here goes nothing, as I was ASSURED someone would ask something.  Anyway, I can't believe there is anything you would want to know about us that isn't already in one of the posts I have written in the past almost 18 months, but if there is something go ahead and ask either one of us.  Dd is what it is around here, so there really isn't much to write about on that subject right now.

There has been no opportunity for r/a because the kids are home for March Break.  Barney did find time to wield his evil cane the other night, ( which for the first time ever had me bawling after a punishment, not  so much over guilt I don't think  just so many emotions on  running on overload over here)

~ Anyway who knew he didn't like to be snapped at over loading the dishwasher?  Meh, live and learn.

Now....

You know those annoying people that say they get addicted exercise?  Yeah, so not me.  In truth if I didn't start this #$@% challenge I probably would have said,
 " @#%$ it!" on day 2 !

  Day one and two found me 'running' the stairs in our home for 30 minutes.  It usually goes something like this : first 10 minutes speed demon;

 next 5 minutes @#$% I HATE this!
next 5 minutes, "oh I am almost half way there!"
next 5 minutes " @#$% I hate this!!! ";

 then, " I'm almost done!"

After " wow that was good, and MAN I am sweaty!"

Day 3 Mother Nature decided to tease us with some okay weather so Barney decided to come with me for a walk OUTSIDE.  I might have a bit of a reputation of not being a slow walker.  Barney, while on his feet most of the time for work....not so much a walker.  Here are a few snippets from our quality time together-

" Hey you didn't signal"

" I think I pulled a hamstring" <-this was LITERALLY before we left the neighbourhood

Wilma- " How come the wind is still in our face after we changed directions? "
Barney- " That is because we are walking 40 Km an HOUR! "

" My doctor didn't clear me for this type of exercise"

Sadly, the two previous days of stair torture climbing had caught up with me midway through our walk. Not too mention I chose to wear my winter hiking boots:

By the end of our walk  the tables had turned somewhat

Fortunately Day 4 offered up the chance to go outside and shovel! LOL.  So for an hour and a half I shovelled, chopped and shovelled again in order to find our back deck to sit in the sunshine.  Sadly no wine to be had as it is off of my list for the next 40 days.

Another couple of days of outside walking until yesterday when Mother Nature decided she wasn't done with torturing us

Back to the @#$% Stairs it was for me!

So YES I did reach all of my goals.  Surprisingly, the toughest one was and continues to be drinking 8 glasses of water a day.

I should have included all the going to and from the bathroom in my exercise regime.  I mean think of the squats alone!

**********

Anyway I survived!  I hope all of you who have joined the challenge publicly, or behind the scenes are finding success too.  Let me be honest, if it wasn't for publicly putting this out there I probably wouldn't have completed my tasks!

40 Days of Fitness

There seems to be a common theme with a few women lately...getting healthier. A couple of years ago Celeste Jones and a few other women spearheaded the Goobs ( Get Of Our Butts) challenge- it was a great motivator. We would publicly state what our challenge was for ourselves and once a week report whether we reached our goals or not. For some reason, the fear of public, anonymous humiliation was enough to motivate me more than our wooden paddles.

This year we thought we'd put a spin on 'Lent' . Nothing says religious sacrifice like exercise and healthy living right? lol-  Oh go with it! So if you are interested here is our little banner

Every Weds. I will comment if I have achieved my goals. If you don't have a blog but want to participate, shoot me an email wilma.barney@gmail.com and I will put your name and goals on my blog each week. I don't think I will actually make a post each week, but add a button to the side of my blog. Time will tell.

Now on to my unrealistic  goals.  I want to exercise everyday for 30 minutes, ( starting tomorrow of course).  I know me and if I say 3 times a week I will continually put it off.  I am better if I do it every day.  I have given up wine and pop ( soft drinks-sigh) for Lent.  I also pledge to drink 8 glasses of water a day minimum ( difficult for me as I am a camel) and eat 3 nutritious meals a day.  Ask anyone, this will be my biggest challenge.

My blood pressure is borderline, so Barney has been wanting me to exercise for a while now. I have been waiting for this winter to let up, but I have given up on that!

I also realize I am behind in writing posts, but I have managed to hurt myself ( nothing serious) and typing is not a great idea at the moment.  Hopefully I'll get some reprieve soon.  LOL...that makes me sound like I think you are DYING for me to write...

Here are some achievement 'stickers' or Non achievement stickers if you want to play along with us.  No pressure.  Just thought we'd share our idea in case you want to be healthy in the odd chance summer ever shows up!

Edit *** 1)  I am aiming to exercise for 40 Days, but the intent is for everyone to get involved for 40 Days.  If you say I am going to exercise 4 times in 40 days, that is up to you!  LOL

Edit 2) Maryanne said I didn't have enough FAIL 'stickers'...so here are two more.  Sheesh
